Our Mission

Atheene exists to make Congress understandable for everyone. Government data is technically public but functionally private — congressional bills are buried in labyrinthine .gov portals, written in dense legalese that requires a law degree to parse. Atheene bridges this gap by making legislation understandable.

We are not a newsroom with an agenda. We do not tell you what to think. The judgment is yours.

How Our Summaries Work

Each bill is processed through a structured AI pipeline that transforms raw legislative text into a standardized, easy-to-read summary. Every summary includes four sections:

• TLDR— What the bill does in plain language, with labeled key points covering the sponsor's goal, national impact, outlook, and estimated cost.
• Status — Where the bill is in the legislative process, visualized as stages from introduction through committee review to potential passage.
• Impacts — Bullet points of what changes if the bill passes, who is affected, and what the practical consequences would be.
• Debate — Structured arguments from both supporters and critics, presented side-by-side so you can understand the full picture.

All AI-generated summaries are transparently labeled as AI-generated, and we link to the original bill on Congress.gov so you can verify the information yourself. We sync with congressional data sources daily, so new bills, amendments, and status changes are reflected within 24 hours.

Where Our Data Comes From

We pull data directly from official government sources: the Congress.gov API for bill text, metadata, sponsor and cosponsor information, committee referrals, voting records, and status updates; and the Government Publishing Office (GPO) for official bill text and amendments. Our information is sourced directly from .gov documents and summarized by AI. We do not editorialize, spin, or take sides.

Non-Partisan Commitment

Atheene is committed to non-partisan, neutral presentation of legislative data. We summarize bills using the same structure for every piece of legislation, regardless of party. We do not endorse any party, candidate, or political position. Our role is to inform, not to persuade. We present bills and voting records as they are, and we let you draw your own conclusions.

Is Atheene Free?

Yes. Atheene is free to use. The core experience — browsing bills, reading summaries, and tracking legislation — will always be free.We may offer optional premium features in the future, but our mission of making government accessible to everyone means the essentials will never be behind a paywall.
